Well hello there family and welcome to another installment of my personal experiences as an indie artist,
I always say to everyone i meet that "I swear if I didn't love this business so much I'd give it up right now" lol, but i know that myself and my team have to be on the grind and create avenues to brand the name everyday. In my latest effort, recently i had a big show @ a spot in DC called The Republic. I was the opening act for Pleasure P, ever since the word came down that I was the scheduled to perform, my team thanks to PhatCats Ent. pulled all our resources together to make sure that everyone knew that I was gonna be there showcasing and promoting my new release, we had professional flyers made up as well as promotional singles for the audience to make sure that everyone was well aware of who I was long after I've left the stage, not to mention the endless promotions online on the many social networks and music sites that I'm a part of, but i know that I (we) have to take the extra mile and continue to build my base of supporters, most people say fans, but the people who follow my movement my music are way more than just fans to me. I was pretty happy with the performance for the most part, the only thing that really bothered me was, I went through a soundcheck for my set and by the time I hit the stage, the sound was all jacked up, the music was too loud and the mic levels were off as well, I found myself literally screaming over the tracks (which i really hate) but my dude The Poetic Therapist and myself still managed to get it in and the crowd, which consisted of some of the finest young ladies in the DMV area really enjoyed the show which I guess is all that really matters right? lol, when I finished my set my throat was killin me and i was slightly hoarse. I knew that I better take it easy for the rest of the night because on the following day I had to sing the National Anthem at RFK Stadium for the DC United professional soccer game which was set to be televised live on FSN (Fox Sports Network) and i knew I had to be on point for that one after all i was singing it acapella, all in all these are just a couple of my experiences in this crazy industry as an indie artist, and I have to say in spite of all the hard work that I put into my craft, I wouldn't trade it in for the world, this has indeed been an interesting journey thus far and i know that I'm in for more craziness in the months to come, I remember when i got my order back from cdbaby, and when i opened up one of the boxes me and my manager were so excited to see how good the packaging of the cd looked, I mean it could stand up next to anything out on the market right now, and as quickly as the excitement came over me from receiving the product, I looked at all the boxes that came and it hit me....... "damn, now I gotta sell these things" Lol
Stay Tuned.
